| The Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood popularized a theatrically romantic style, marked by great beauty and an intricate realism. The themes usually harkened back to Greek and Arthurian legends. The movement itself did not last past the 1850s but the style remained popular for decades, and influenced the Arts and Crafts Movement and Impressionism. |
